Hi,my name is John Brain. Towards the end of August 2008 I will be attempting to swim the English Channel. The Channel is 21.75 Miles (34 km), it is one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world, with strong tides and very cold water temperatures (between 15-18 Degrees centigrade). Another obstacle may be the not to friendly jellyfish that inhabit these waters and i'm sure i'll encounter more than a few on my journey! I'm expecting the swim to take me around 15 hours, so it has to be said that this is going to be the most demanding challenge of my life.
