Story
Welcome to the Beaglers Expeditionary Force just giving page.
Thanks for taking the time to have a look.
The Beaglers Expeditionary Force is basically an excuse for a few friends to keep fit and do a few challenges whilst also raising some money for charity so any donations are greatfully recieved.
The first challenge was to run across Exmoor over the weekend of the 15th and 16th of August. The route was roughly 26 miles as the crow flies (but crows luckily for them, dont have to wade through large areas of marsh so it may have been a little further). We had originally planned the run to be over two days however as we were all feeling ok at lunch (but also with the realisation that we definately would not be feeling anything near ok by the next day) we decided to press on and completed the run in only one day, taking nine hours from start to finish.
So we completed our challenge in better style than expected and are now have another cunning plan. This time we will be running a circular (ish) route in the Lake district, the distance for this is a mere 20 miles unfortunately however there appears to be 10,000 metres of ascent and descent along the way so it may not be quite so easy. Our plan is to learn from last year and nail the thing in a single day although we may need mountain rescue at some point (fingers crossed not though).
The charities we are supporting are Cancer Research (which is on another page if you want to donate there too) and Help for Heroes (this page) which is a very important organisation, especially as many of us have friends in the forces some of whom are currently serving in Iraq and Afganistan. For more information on the charity please have a look on their web site.
oh and please donate.
regards
