Story
Hello!
Many thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
I shall be doing the Bupa Great North Run 2009 for Leukaemia Research in which I’ll be (hopefully) completing the world's largest half marathon. Training is already underway and slowly but surely I’m clocking up the miles in preparation! Having never ran this far (over 13 miles) in my life before I'm really quite excited about it, although it means that sooner rather than later ill have to ditch the beer and chomp on bananas and pasta instead to give myself the best chance of success! If you see me with a kebab in hand between now and September then you have my permission to slap it out of my hand, although the beer I’ll be giving up a little nearer the time!
Two and a half years on from being diagnosed and two years since I underwent my life-saving bone marrow transplant, I am definitely extremely fortunate to still be here. I am most definitely one of the lucky ones therefore I am trying to do my bit to give something back to an organisation which has helped get me here today. However, I need your help. Whilst running the half marathon will ultimately be down to me, you can be of a great help in donating towards a great cause.
I have therefore set up this online fundraising page which is very accessible, however should you wish to donate in cash, cheque etc then just send me an email (roonst83@hotmail.com) stating how much you wish to pledge and ill forward you my home address. I realise that times are tough financially with the ‘credit crunch’ but what better way to make you feel better than by giving to a charity that helps saves lives from such a destructive disease. Any amount you can spare would be fantastic no matter how large or small – believe me every little counts!!
All donations will be sent directly to Leukaemia Research with sincere gratitude from myself.
Cheers,
B positive
