In September 2008, I had all my dreadlocks chopped off to raise money to help educate underprivileged children in my hometown of Mumbai, India. My initial fundraising target back then was a mere £300, but thanks to the generosity of all the kind people who donated, I managed to more than quadruple that amount!  

 

 

In September 2009, I went to India to visit Pratham's education programs in Mumbai and to see how all the money that I had raised was being used. I visited two local slum areas in Borivali (Mumbai), and met children attending Pratham education programs. This brief yet powerful experience served to humble and inspire me to continue my fundraising work.

I hope that after seeing these photos and watching the video clips of the actual children that benefited from your donations, you feel as inspired as I did when I met them in India in 2009.  I hope to return to India in the future, in order to continue my work with Pratham.

 

My current target of £1500 will help educate over 250 children per year. Education is the only way out of poverty for these children. Most of us were lucky enough to have a good education, please help these children get one too!
