Story
In February 2008 I am trekking over 100 km through theSaharaDesert in order to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
I am taking part in the challenge of a lifetime in memory of my dear friend Sabrina Libertucci, who sadly lost her battle with cancer in October 2003, aged 19.
A little bit about my walk in the sand....
The nine day hike will take me through the most extreme landscapes of theSahara . This includes trekking across flat, stony salt pans; across soft sand on open desert and up 500m high sand dunes. I will be trekking for up to 12 hours per day....all in over 30*C heat!
Yeah, I know what you're thinking (she’s never gunna make it!).....don't worry there will be ALOT of training in the next few months!
However, before I take on the physical challenges theSahara presents, I need to raise at least £2,200. As I'm sure you can appreciate this is a challenge in itself!
Sabrina was only too aware of the difference Macmillan can make to people affected by cancer. She herself benefited from their services and as a result planned to raise funds for them herself. Unfortunately Sabrina did not get that chance, which is why I am determined to complete this challenge in her memory.
Please, please dig deep and support me in my mission to raise £2.5k for this worthy cause .
Thank you so so much for your generosity.
Love,
Jude
