Story
I've finally joined the padded lycra shorts brigade and am cycling for charity!
Armed with an inner tube, an alien-style helmet, and a tub of sudocreme(!) I shall be heading off at the end of October to cycle 400km in 5 days along the Garden Route in South Africa, in order to raise money for Norwood, a charity that works with people with disabilities.
I'm intrigued by the famous idiom that says "It's like riding a bike; you never forget how." This expression seems to have eluded me somehow! Cars are known to give me a wide berth as I wobble my way through the training in my nappy-style shorts, hitting potholes and endangering pedestrians. I apologise in advance to those of you who might have had the misfortune to have encountered me en route, but I can assure you that it is for a good cause.
This is not only a demanding physical challenge, but I am also committed to the much greater challenge of raising a minimum of £3000 in sponsorship money. I am paying for the costs and expenses of the trip so the money that I raise will go directly to support the families in need. Please help me make a difference by sponsoring me to take part in this great event.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Norwood gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
I really appreciate any donation you can give to help me reach this target. Many thanks for your support, and I should also imagine your sympathy!
