Story
Hi I'm Jules and I'm a cancer survivor!! To celebrate I've decided to run the Edinbgurgh Marathon in aid of Macmillan cancer support to say 'thank you' for the help support and advice this excellant charity gives to people affected by cancer.
Last April I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had a lumpectomy in May, that was the easy bit! Next came a gruelling and intensive course of treatment including 20 weeks of chemotherapy (Keemo to friends and family) followed by 30 radiotherapy sessions. Treatment finished 19th Dec 08. On my first run after treatment on 24th Dec I suffered a stress fracture in my foot so come Mid Feb 09 I started my marathon training.
I DID IT IN 4:21:17 AND IT HURT BUT WAS VERY EMOTIONAL. THANKS AGAIN FOR SPONSORING ME.
I was always a keen runner before cancer running for the Sinfin Running Club in Derby. I still manged to get out to the gym during the 6 months of treatment, I'm sure my fitness helped me get through it.
Yes I lost all my hair...and I mean all of it but its growing back into a great rockabilly style, as you can see!!
There is life after cancer please be inspired and sponsor me today.
The just giving web site is easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Macmillan Cancer Support gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
