Kilimanjaro · 21 May 2009

We’re the UK’s leading charity for Crohn’s and Colitis. Right now, over 500,000 people in the UK are living with a lifelong disease that many people have never heard of. We’re working to improve diagnosis and treatment; to fund research and to raise awareness.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

I am pleased to inform you that I was successful in reaching the summit of Kilimanjaro in the early hours of the 4th of March. It was the most physically demanding thing I have ever done and the most rewarding. I reached the summit after 8 gruelling hours of trekking though the night, altitude sickness had its grip on me, in which I suffered from a pounding head ache waves of nausea and lack of oxygen however I was rewarded by a glorious sun rise and breathtaking scenery. A toast was made for my father during an emotional time.

I would like to thank everyone on behalf of the Boyle family, those who has supported and sponsored me; with your help I have been able to raise £4,500 towards the NACC.

My  motivation to climb Mount Kilimanjaro include; honouring the memory of my father, Paul Boyle. He was a kind and caring family man who was diagnosed with ulcerative Colitis 5 years ago. A resent operation to relieve his symptoms proved to be fatal in which he died from post surgical complications. I not only view Kilimanjaro as a personal challenge but also as a massive opportunity to raise awareness of Colitis and Crohn's disease (NACC), whilst also contributing to much needed fundraising that is required for further research and ongoing support.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The National Association for Colitis and Crohn's Disease - NACC gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!

Justin
