Story
Hello! My name is Sophia and I'm 7 (nearly 8!)Iwas born seven weeks early and as a result I was very ill, I endured the horrors of collapsed lungs, septicaemia, jaundice, a full body blood transfusion etc. They told my mummy to say goodbye to me, but I wasn't going anywhere!
Sadly, despite my determination I suffered a bleed on my brain causing me to have a condition called Spastic Diplegia Cerebral Palsy, doctors said I'd live my life in constant pain, on medication and unable to walk. I am ridiculously social and I never sit still, so a prognosis like this was heartbreaking.
Then came SDR, a life changing surgery that would take away all my pain and let me walk came along! The NHS refused to fund this, so my mummy and our supporters raised £26,000 and on August 29th 2014 I had my surgery. My legs don't hurt now, and after much therapy I can stand for 2 whole minutes and take some steps.
My physiotherapy costs £64 a week and without it I will not walk. Mummy and my supporters are doing all they can to raise as much money as we can to help me walk. If you can help me please do,
I am like most girls my age, mind you I do love football. But, footballs for girls too right? I also love swimming, dancing and playing games sadly, I cannot do this like my friends. One day I want to be able to walk to school or be able to score a goal without needing to hold my walker Please help me show Cerebral Palsy and all the doctors who doubted me, who's boss!
