Story
Emmaus, an international organisation, helps ‘companions’ (the homeless) by ‘giving people a bed and a reason to get out of it’. Emmaus helps homeless people become self-reliant through working and living together in 'communities'. There are currently 29 across the UK, which provide homes for as long as the person needs.
This is a school Y9 charity event that I am overjoyed to be a part of. We are sleeping outside overnight and we also participate in other activities, to try to begin to understand the daily lives of those with nowhere to turn. Most importantly, we will be raising money for an extraordinary charity that I know truly long-term impacts many lives. It makes me most happy that we can all, and we will make a difference.
