We've outgrown our building. Right now dozens are waiting for a space on each retreat, and many more would come if they were able. We want a bigger retreat centre so that we can run retreats for at least 60 people and house a community of 12.

Story

The basic message is: we need a much bigger place to run our training for ordination retreats. Our retreats are so effective for mitras training for ordination and I’d really love it if we could just say YES when they want to make a booking. It would be wonderful if people could come at least twice a year, which currently isn’t possible.

I would also love us to be able to offer places to Dharmacharinis so that we can practice together, and to offer opportunities for more people to work alongside us to take care of all the practical work involved.

I have a strong desire to make our project sustainable for everyone working here, which means having time to nourish our sources of inspiration. I would love it if I had time to follow my art practice, making my Dharma life even richer than it already is.

So I'm very motivated to help raise the capital we need. When I came back from Akashavana’s 3 month ordination retreat in 2022 I decided to give up buying clothes for a year - I realised how little I needed! So I’m asking you to support me to do that in aid of Tiratanaloka Unlimited. I also decided privately that I'd stop browsing the news on my phone as I can get quite addicted - it really doesn't improve my state of mind. When I was at Akashavana I loved being away from my phone and didn't miss it at all! I've decided to come out with this one - when I set up this fund-raising page I didn't trust myself to stick to it. But it's going very well and it's a bit more of a challenge than the clothes, which I've been finding dead easy :)

Thanks for reading, and thanks so much for your support!

About the campaign

About the charity

It's all about friendship: helping women in their journey towards ordination into the Triratna Buddhist Order. We are a Buddhist community living together, running retreats and supporting each individual in the deepening of their Buddhist practice.
