Fire Walk Challenge
THE HEAT IS ON!!
Join us for a spectacular evening complete with music and food.
This is an adult activity but is run by experienced, fully qualified professionals. Survivorbility have a 100% injury free event history and impeccable safety standards (phew!). They have run successful firewalks all over the world and have hundreds of glowing testimonials...
That said, firewalking is a potentially dangerous activity and all walkers will be required to sign a legal disclaimer saying that they fully understand that the activity of fire walking is potentially dangerous that the decision to fire walk is taken of their own free will (more reason for you all to sponsor us...surely!) You are not permitted to be under the influence of alcohol either!!
All participants attend the 1-hour training session held by Survivorbility at the venue, in a room away from the fire. The session is designed to allay any fears - and I am sure between us we have loads!!!!.....they def need to guide us into the right frame of mind for this incredible challenge.
After a short safety brief and demonstration on how to walk on the fire we will be invited to take off our shoes and socks off and line up ready. When the Fire Master is happy that the group are in the right frame of mind, the exciting pulse quickening music is screaming out from the huge JBL PA system and the fire is safe to cross he will open the fire and walk first. Each firewalker will then show their security band to him/her and be allowed to cross the fire. We may of course rejoin the queue and walk as many times as we (or not!!) like or until the Fire Master decides that the fire is no longer walk-able. After the Fire Walk all participants will return indoors for a short debrief session and award of certificates.
You and your spectators can then, relax, kick back and enjoy some food, drink and music.
The timetable for the evening is as follows:
6.30pm Walkers Registration
7pm Walkers Seminar
8pm Firewalk Begins
BBQ and Drinks
11pm Close
Spectators are welcome on a ticket only basis. The charge per ticket is £15.00 to include a drink on arrival (glass of wine or soft drink) and a BBQ Supper. Although the function room will not be available until after the seminar has been completed, there is a public bar area and outside seating for your spectators to sit and relax.
Berkshire East & South Bucks Women's Aid is a registered charity with over 30 years experience of providing specialist support to victims of domestic abuse.
We strive to provide safety, support and sanctuary to victims of Domestic Abuse within our local communities and raise awareness around an unpopular subject, campaigning for zero-tolerance for abuse within families.
Alongside refuge provision and personalised support for up to 13 families at any one time, the charity also provides Outreach and Advocacy support to individuals for which refuge is not an option. We will help victims consider their options, safety plan and eventually rediscover their self-belief and independence.
2 Women a week are murdered by a current or former partner and in East Berkshire last year there were 5841 recorded incidents of Domestic Abuse. It wrecks the lives of both adults and children and the charity provides a unique, confidential and independent service to over 500 local families a year. We provide a 24-hour helpline, specialist support to children and have just launched our new male advisory service.
We rely heavily on local community support, fundraising, donations and volunteers to continue providing our current level of service. Please help us raise much needed funds for our charity – you will be helping to change and save lives.
Our service supports male and female victims of domestic abuse. To access our service you can call our confidential freephone helpline on 0800 0852 654 and one of our team will arrange to complete our assessment paperwork with you so we can assess the best way in which we can support you.
