Story

Hello (with a wave and a smile),

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

You may or may not know me but my name is Kamilah Bryan and on the 20th January 2011 I will be giving up my job as a designer for Ted Baker and volunteering for 12 months in order to teach and develop skills among young Mozambicans.

I will be volunteering on behalf of a charity called ICYE (Inter Cultural Youth Exchange) who are an ethical volunteering organisation with over 50 years of experience in international volunteering around the world. My placement will involve working 5 days a week with two different projects. The first project is called MOZARTE, which offers an environment where young Mozambicans learn a variety of social, and life skills through art. The centre encourages many art activities including painting, batik, Ceramic, crafts, African Song and Dance, sewing African clothes, languages teaching, etc. The second project is newly developed called ‘Ingrid Charna’ this project works with destitute street boys. Its aim is to encourage the use of art as a form of expression and positive self-regard.

One of the fundraising projects I have created has been making and selling home-made Jams (YEY!). I have called it KAM JAM and I have been blogging about my experiences as a Jam maker at http://kamsjams.blogspot.com/.  I have raised a small but credible amount from that venture.

In taking the time to visit this page I hope you will make a donation to this amazing cause.  If you do, I would like to ask you to consider supporting my efforts by donating anything from £5 to the full amount (that would be amazing...lol). I would like to raise £10,000 which is more than the required amount but this will provide extra funds to the Ingrid Charna project who have received little financial aid to date.

I am soooooooooo excited about the projects and hope that you can dig deep so that I can raise as much money as possible for this amazing organisation.

I will be keeping you up to date throughout my time in Mozambique so you are able to see what your money is doing for these young people via blogs pictures and the like!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Thank you

x
