To mark the beginning of a new year, and to start as I mean to go on, I will begin my new year's resolution of being good (yes, I thought it was quite imaginative) by wandering the beach at Hunstanton and collecting litter!
On January 1st 2008, between the hours of daylight (that's 8.06am - 4.02pm so I am told, a whole 7hrs, 55m, 19s!) I will be trudging up and down (tides permitting of course) collecting litter from the beach.
I am not just doing this because I am a bit odd, but to raise money for the Marine Conservation Society, who you can read about on the left here, and who really do deserve supporting.
For everyone who sponsors me there will not just be the warm fuzzy feeling of do-gooding, but also, if you give me your address, you will receive a wonderful creative souvenir from my day out at the seaside!
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * I DID IT! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * The weather was lovely and it was a surprisingly nice day out! I collected 137 pieces of rubbish, including a sock, lots of plastic, and...a cuddly toy! It was quite an enjoyable exercise...and I recommend that next time you go to the beach, don't just collect the odd pretty shell or stone you see, but pick up any rubbish you find and put it in the bin- it is easy!
THANK YOU to everyone who has sponsored me for this event, MCS are continuing their Coastal Challenge, so if you feel like doing a bit of walking and raising some awareness (and some money!) for them at the same time, contact them! www.mcsuk.org
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Marine Conservation Society will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
