Thanks for visiting my fundraising page for East Berkshire Women's Aid. I was inspired to do this by the Hope 08 initiative - inspiring churches and individuals to impact their community in words and actions; as well as for improving my health and fitness. E.B.W.A provides emotional and practical support for families fleeing domestic abuse in the East Berks/South Bucks area. In addition to their 3 safe houses, they provide a range of services, which together support an average of 200 women and 400 children each year. Christmas is often a lonely time for the families they support as many of them have been forced to leave their homes, friends, families and belongings, to find a safe refuge.  Your donation will help in many ways especially in making this year a christmas to remember for these vulnerable families.

My aim is to lose up to 4 stones; 56 lbs or 25.4 kgs by mid December 2008. I am doing this by following a healthy eating programme [ adapting some ideas from the Rosemary Conley diet plan which I find more practical - http://www.rosemaryconley.com]. My exercise regime includes jogging, swimming, walking and working out at the gym, on an average of four times per week. EVENTS: I have completed the 13 miles maidenhead boundary walk on SUNDAY 5th Octoberin 4 hours in the rain and thedorneylake 10k run on SUNDAY 26th October in 1 hr and 16 mins . http://www.run10ksponsorme.org/karenroach1. Many thanks to my local health and fitness club - Langley Leisure Centre, Parlaunt Road, Langley, Berkshire for contributing to this cause, by offering me six months free membership to all facilities including the gym and swimming pool. Also to Luke - my personal trainer whose encouragement has helped me in getting this far and taking part in the 10K run for Cancer Research. http://www.synergyclubs.co.uk/langley.html My progress as of 16/11/2008 is 3.6 stones or 50 lbs or 22.7 kgs in weight loss. 0.4 stones or 6lbs or 2.7 kgs to go!!!!
