This is my first marathon and it will be a challenge .... training in the snow sleet and dark has been ..different. At least my dogs are now super fit  . I hope to complete the 26 miles in under 4 1/2 hours so I may not be able to keep up with Paua Radcliffe (even if she took 25 bathroom breaks ! ) but I do have the fantastic incentive of running for an inspirational charity

My youngest son is autistic and I  wanted to run for a charity that supports disabled children and their families: life can be worrying and hard when the future of a child is uncertain.

It is estimated that there are over 770,000 disabled children in the UK and the overwhelming majority are cared for at home by their families with little or no outside help. The pressures both emotional and financial on these families can be overwhelming, often  leading to family  break ups  and further hardship.

Contact a Family helped over 300,000 families last year  to provide advice on a  whole range of issues such as benefits, educational needs, support groups, special equipment  and adaptations to the home , or just to provide the welcome break of an evening out or respite care.
