Story
On 4 August 2013, Kevin (Scout Leader), Priscilla (Assistant Scout Leader) & Steve (Scout Section Assistant) are embarking on a 16 mile sponsored paddle along the Thames from Henley to Maidenhead to raise funds to purchase a training kayak for the Scout Group. By the Scout Group purchasing a kayak, it will allow Priscilla to borrow the kayak to complete her training, and in turn this will enable Priscilla to pass on her knowledge and skills to other members of the group and work towards training them to become instructors too.
We are leaving Henley on Sunday 4 August at 10:00 am and then paddling through, Remenham, Medmenham, Hurley, Marlow, Bourne End, Cookham and finishing in Maidenhead some time later that afternoon.
Should we exceed our target, any remaining funds will be put towards increasing our fleet of training kayaks to allow more young members access to water activities.
Based by a lake in Maidenhead, the 1st Maidenhead Sea Scout Group is dedicated to providing Scouting skills with the added bonus of water skills. As one of the oldest groups in Maidenhead, and the only Sea Scout Group, we provide water based activities at every opportunity. Don't Just Scout It...Sea Scout It!
