Story

Thank you for taking the time to read this page.

Like many middle-aged chaps these days  (I'm 42) I'm a keen cyclist, hooning up and down the hilly bridleways of Hampshire on my much-loved Boardman mountain bike. I suppose it is natural for anyone to think I am doing this mainly for the cycling experience. After all, LEJOG is a must-do item for many cyclists.

The cycling challenge is exciting of course, especially the group aspect of it, but actually it is not the main reason for me doing LEJOG.

Those who live in Twyford know that we have an unusually strong community. We've lived in Twyford for over ten years and in that time I haven't done my share of work for the community: I'm not involved in any committees or the running of any of the wonderful groups we depend on (e.g. PlayGroup, PTA, etc.). When Percy's Pals was conceived, and with its first main event being LEJOG, I jumped at the chance to be involved because this is an endeavour where I believe I can bring something to the table and make a meaningful contribution to the community - not just Twyford, but the much wider community depending on the Neurological Unit at Southampton General Hospital. This wider community is huge, reaching as far as Chichester, Dorchester, Salisbury and The Channel Islands. Many thousands of people can directly benefit from the portable CT scanner that we're raising the funds for. With strokes affecting 4 out of 5 families in some way or another, such a scanner in Southampton can potentially improve the lives of hundreds of thousands.

Please do support us. Every contribution, big or small, is going to help a lot of people.

Many thanks and kind regards,

Keri
