Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have always wanted to run the London Marathon, and reaching a milestone birthday of 50 was the catalyst.  It wasn't just for that, but also I wanted to run for MacMillan Cancer Support as they had been looking after my ex wife Helen.  I was hoping she would be alive to see me run it, but unfortunately on Monday 11th January, 2 days after her 44th birthday, she lost her brave battle with the disease. My kids, at 17 and 15 years old whilst expecting it were nonetheless distraught, but bravely said goodbye to her that day. My only comfort is that time is on their side and in time it will be easier to bear.

Colleagues and clients from all over the world have been massively supportive and under my green MacMillan vest I will be wearing a white long sleeve shirt, which will be covered in the logos, showing their support for such a worthy cause. But friends (and indeed anyone else you know) it doesn't end there. I am asking you for whatever you can afford to give, be it 50p or £100 (more if you can), and then organisations like MacMillan can continue their fight against this awful disease, and perhaps one day we'll see widesweeping cures for cancer in all it's guises.  Don't forget, without such research, the cervical cancer jab now available to all girls at school would never have been refined. Come on, we all know someone who's lives have been blighted by cancer, together we can stamp it out!

I would like to add that without the support of my 4 kids and my wife Tracey, I wouldn't be eating right, getting up to train (yes, even in the snow and ice), and from the bottom of my heart I thank you.  Indeed, Tracey will be 40 on the day of the marathon, so I hope to have much celebration at the finish.  Thank you!
