Story

17/02/2011

Wow! Talk about a busy few months. Most of you will know that we've had a few trips up to Bristol since September. Some longer than others! To keep it short, we have been up again today to discuss future plans. Alexis has been booked in once again for a major op on 10th March. This time she will have to be opened up and things "re-jigged". Long term there will be numerous benefits but for those couple of weeks she will be in some distress. However she will be in the fab care of Bristol Children's Hospital. Thank you so much to all who have been so generous. Every time David's phone jingles it helps us put away the biscuits! (In the drawer not our mouths!) Currently we have both lost 1 stone 10lbs. As a result of the many disruptions and unplanned stays in hospital we are extending our deadline to May half term as dieting with vending machine food is not possible! We hope none of you mind but if you want your money back then please contact;

Mr Try-it-and-see-where-you-get,

Alexis Story
On 16th April 2000 our first child Alexis Rose was born. We had been told there would be complications with the baby so needed to have her in Bristol. We'd been booked in 2 weeks early but, Alexis being Alexis, she wanted to get out and see the world so 5 weeks early she decided to arrive! At just 2 days old she had her first operation. Since then she has had numerous, procedures, operations, tests and appointments. The most memorable of these being a 10 and a half hour operation at 13 months old. That was fun! All her operations have been at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. The care she receives on every occasion is outstanding. She is treated as an individual not just another patient. Everything they have done is faultless.
On 08/09/2010 we took Alexis to Torbay with severe stomach pains. She was then sent by emergency ambulance to BRCH where, within minutes of arriving, they performed an 4 hour life saving operation. She has now made an amazing recovery and is back to her normal activities of swimming, watersports, guides etc.
Alexis will remain under the care of the BRCH until she reaches adulthood. She will undoubtedly have more operations, but hopefully they will be planned!
As you probably know we both suffer with a great liking of food and therefore we need to lose weight! We felt that the inspiration we needed for losing weight was doing it for a great cause. We would both like to lose 3 stone before Alexis' 11th birthday on 16th April 2011. If you could sponsor us to do this we would be very grateful. Alexis has our starting weights and she will confirm if we successfully reach our target.
Help us lose lbs to gain £s!!
THANK YOU!
David and Steph :-)
