Story

Thanks for visiting the fundraising page for Katrina Woodley ,Jane Money and Maxine Hellier

20/10/2010 Well we are back in the UK now. What a week we have had, we all reached the Summit off Kilimanjaro, unfortunately we weren't all there at the same time, but we did all make it to the top of the worlds highest free standing mountain!!!. The week has brought out every single emotion, and drained us both mentally and physically. The experience was awesome and we will never forget it. We are feeling exhilarated, and also very humble, with the sights we saw and the work that the porters do. Thankyou all for all your support and good wishes. Keep looking as i will continue with the updates and more photos. Lots of love xxx

UPDATE (17.10.10) = The  girls are now back at the hotel and, after finally being able to speak to them, they say that this week has been the most exhilarating week of their life and they are exhausted and also emotionally drained (apparently alot of crying went on). The group has been amazing and the porters were fantastic! (Katrina said that unfortunately she can only fit 3 in her bag to bring home!)

They want to say a massive thank you for everyones support and congratulations. They are very proud of themselves and rightly so i'd say! Well done kili girls, knew you could do it!!

UPDATE (16.10.10) = I know alot of you are probably itching to know the latest news from the girls, (sorry for keeping you in suspense). After a good few years of planning THE GIRLS MADE IT! At 5 o'clock this morning they summited kili, what an amazing achievment! They all say that it is the most amazing (but also the hardest) thing they have ever done, and are currently one their way down, no doubt with lots of amazing stories to tell us all. Well done guys, we are all so proud!!!

UPDATE FOR THE FINAL PUSH FOR THE SUMMIT = The group are now all getting ready for the final climb, and layering up. The girls are determined to make it and are gonna stick together as much as they can. GO KILI GIRLS!

UPDATE (15.10.10) = the girls are now at base camp, after a very long four hour walk through the volcanic rock which was very foggy. However the group are now resting at base camp ready for the final push to the summit at midnight. The group are all still together and they are determined to make it a 100% success rate. Katrina, Max and Jane all say that it is the most amazing experience they have ever had. GOOD LUCK GUYS!!!

UPDATE (14.10.10) = Another tough day for the girls, they walked for seven hours today, up Baranco Wall and then back down to 3800m again. Apparently it is very dirty, smelly and emotional at the moment but despite all that they are all still loving it and describe it as being "amazing and unbelievable". Well done guys, keep going!.

UPDATE (13.10.10) = The girls are loving the experience but say it is very very tiring, they walked for ten hours today, and have now reached the height of 4600m! Some of the group also visisted the lava tower which was amazing! They are really having a great time however they are exhausted. Katrina says she may bring some porters home she loves them so much! Keep going guys!

UPDATE (12.10.10) = Okay we've had two updates for today, the first being that they set off on a slow pace at 7am this morning, but the weather was beautiful and they had a good nights sleep in their sleeping bags and have been filled up on, i quote "interesting" food. The most recent update would be that the girls have had a fab day but they say that it is definately getting tougher, they walked for about 7 hours today, (they also had rain which wasn't nice). So far they've reached the height of 3800m, and love all the group and porters. Keep up the high spirits guys!

UPDATE (11.10.10) = The girls have had their first day of walking, they say they have had a brilliant day, amazing views already and have seen the summit! The group and porters are amazing and they have all been dancing and singing at camp tonight (lets hope they leave some energy for the climb!) :) good luck guys!

UPDATE (10.10.10) = the girls are finally there and ready to start the actual climb, had some hiccups at the airport but are now just on the way to the hotel for their last night comfort for the next 7 days.  Good luck girls, go for it!

Its not long now, before our challenge of a life time climbing Kilimanjaro, we leave on 9th October 2010. We are going to be pushing ourselves in so many different ways but we are all so excited about the challenge. We hope you will sponsor us and help us raise money  for such a worthy cause as Macmillan Cancer Support .

Please come back and look at our just giving site while we are away, as it will be updated with our progress. We also have a facebook page Kili-girls Macmillan so do join us on there too.

We are doing so well with our fund raising and with a very successful day collecting at Royal Ascot we raised £3800, which was amazing and thanks to all our helpers that day.Talking of fund raising,we had four  very successful car boots which raised over £2000 and also held a pamper afternoon raising over £800. Two shopping trips and a Kareoke evening. Thanks to all those helping us either by donation goods, money and time for such a worthy cause. People have been so generous, we have even been given money for Macmillan while out on one of our Training walks, it has been very touching.

Training is going well. , our fitness level is getting better week by week. We had a great weekend in Snowdonia, meeting fellow trekkers and also lots of walking/climbing. We now know what fitness level is required and are very focused on it.We have just had a weekend in the Lake District where we climbed Scaffel Pike (eventually as we couldn't find it!!!) It was a great training weekend, preparing us for our ever closer challenge.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Macmillan Cancer Support gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

It really isnt long now, so dig deep and sponsor us, Macmillan will put the money to good use immediately.

We have all been touched by cancer in some way and Macmillan do such a wonderful job with people with cancer and their familiy and friends, so help us raise money for them and for such a worthy cause.

So please sponsor us now!

Thanks so much

Love

Katrina Jane and  Maxine
