Story
Hello, thanks for having a look at my fundraising page!
I climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania from 5th – 14th October 2007 – the highest freestanding mountain in the world. At 5,896m, 6-months training, a fortune on expensive gear. This was a challenging trek at altitude. The final summit was done in the dark at freezing temperatures. It was the hardest thing I have ever done.
Having recently lost one of my best friend's to cystic fibrosis, I have been determined to help fundraise, so that a cure can be found for this crippling disease. For those who knew Justin, he was truly an amazing guy. He never complained, he was the life and soul of the party, he fought his weak body to make it go on. I walked up this mountain and for the final eight hours to the summit endured what a CF sufferer has for their lifetime.
Please consider this and donate what you can. Please feel free to ask questions of what this trek entailed.
Best wishes,Laura

About CF and donating through this site:
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is the UK’s most common life-threatening inherited disease, which affects over 7,500 babies, children and young adults. It clogs the internal organs with thick sticky mucus making it hard to breathe and digest food. At present there is no cure for CF and 3 young lives are lost each week; 90 per cent of people with CF die of lung damage and average life expectancy is just 31 years.
Research funded by the CF Trust has lead to planning clinical trial in 2007 to replace the faulty CF gene with a healthy gene. Challenge events like the Kilimanjaro Trek will help the CF Trust raise the £4.6m it needs to carry out these clinical trials and help turn research into reality.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cystic Fibrosis Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28 per cent in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
