Story
Well as you may well have heard I am off to Kilimanjaro very very soon and am starting to feel somewhat terrified by the rapidly approaching trip. I have decided that the best way to get ready for it is to join British Military Fitness and can be seen running around the slopes of Reigate Park 3 times a week hugging trees and doing burpees!
This will be my second trek for The Children's Trust, the first one was to the Himalayas in 2006 and I just hope that Kili has less undulating paths! All donations will be gratefully received and I'm sure will help focus the mind as I climb to 6000m and attempt to avoid altitude sickness. To celebrate reaching the summit safely (positive mental attitude) and boost sponsorship I am arranging a fancy dress party in early November. I will keep you posted but the theme is something beginning with B, so start planning your outfit.
The Children's Trust pioneered the rehabilitation service for children with acquired brain injury in 1985 and it remains the 's largest centre for paediatric rehabilitation. The service won "Rehabilitation Initiative of the Year - Provider" at the Rehabilitation First Awards held last month.
In July Richard Hammond officially opened our new £7m purpose built rehabilitation centre for children with acquired brain injury. The new facility funded entirely by fundraising efforts includes; 20 large bedrooms, with one bathroom between every two people, a multi-sensory room, hydrotherapy pool and a family flat.
If any of you fancy taking part in an overseas challenge then we do have places in a trek to Vietnam in February 2010, or Nepal in November 2010 or a cycle in Cuba.
