Kimberly's Cheesy 'Five-time-lucky' Marathon Poem
It’s me! I’m back, the running fool
It’s my fifth marathon – so I’m feeling cool.
No first-timer nerves, or feelings of fear
Just doing it now to tone up my rear!
First time was a challenge – I was petrified!
But I did the mileage and was filled with pride.
Second time I had confidence and my bright pink vest
Achieved 3 hours 40 – a personal best!
Third time was awful – injury at mile 10
Limped the rest, moaning ‘never again…’
But alas I’m addicted – always like a good run
But was slow as molasses in last April’s hot sun
This is it: My very last attempt (??!)
I’m aiming for 3hr45 – or will be full of contempt
And now…
My ankle hurts, and I’m bored of oatmeal
So cheer me on, and do me a deal:
I do the training and race on the day
