I am running the Reading Half Marathon to raise money for Help for Heroes.

In July 2008 my friend Peter Cowton of 2nd Battalion The Parachute Regiment, was killed whilst serving his country in Afghanistan. 

I had known Peter from the age of 10 and we had shared many experiences. The Peter I knew was a straight-talking, honest, fun-loving and kind man, but since his death I have discovered a lot more about his character, aspects that have made me even more proud to have known him.

All our soldiers are so brave to do the job they do and to face the many challenges that are thrown at them whilst serving this country. From meeting soldiers who served with Peter, I felt moved to do my bit to help those who have been injured whilst fighting.
