Story
Thankyou for visiting my page. I am fortunate enough to be running the London Marathon for The Henry van Straubenzee Memorial Fund having kindly been donated a gold bond place by Tusk. The first £700 of my money raised will go to Tusk in return for my place and as a way of saying thankyou. Anything raised after this will go directly to HvSMF.
For those of you who did not know Henry, he was tragically killed in a car accident in 2002, weeks before he was set to fly out to Uganda to work in a school. Henry never made it to East Africa, but the school, Bupadhengo in Uganda, where he was to have taught, was calling out for help. Having grown up with Henry and his family, this is a charity very close to my heart. I therefore need your help to raise as much money as possible to bring joy to these childrens lives as Henry did to ours.
The fund was set up to help improve the quality of education in Ugandan schools by investing in buildings and educational resources. The fund is trying to enable that even the poorest children have access to high quality education. Since 2003 it has helped over 7000 children across 10 schools to be happier, healthier, and to receive a good education. With your support we can help more schools and lift more children out of the poverty they have been born into.
To give you a rough idea of where your money will go: £5 will go towards text books, £10 will help to provide a years supply of books, pens and pencils. £35 will pay a months wages of a teacher. £55 will pay the secondary school fees of one child for a year. For more information please visit :

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Tusk Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
However small or big you feel you could donate i would be entirely grateful for whatever help you can give. It is going to be a huge challenge for me to run the 26 miles but knowing we've helped a cause so close to Henry and his family's hearts makes it all worthwhile.
Thankyou!
