<p>Last year not only did I achieve the challenge of a life time and reached the summit of Kilimanjaro, but I successfully managed to raise £5.700 for the Sparkle Appeal.</p>
<p>Although I had an amazing experience, it was very upsetting for me to see some of the guides and porters that took us on our trek, with poor equipment it was evident the clothes they were wearing were second hand and old, some of the men were wearing women's pyjama bottoms and shoes you would wear to dinner, which definitely were not suitable for climbing a mountain.</p>
<p>On my return from Kilimanjaro I decided that I would arrange a dinner and raise money to purchase clothing and equipment and sent them back to Africa, as a thank you for aiding us on our trek.</p>
<p>The dinner will be held at the Hilton Hotel Newport on the Friday the 8th of July 2011. There will be live music, a disco, games and a buffet. The tickets will cost £15.00. Free parking will also be available.</p>
<p>Tickets can be purchased from this just giving and will then be distributed via post at no extra charge. </p>
