Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Our Charity is 'Help for Heroes.' As you can see from the recent photograph taken we have all the gear and no idea about riding from one end of the country to the other in 7 days. Probably quite fitting that one of us has a Military hair cut and one looks like he is wearing a Grenadier Guard's Bear Skin.  However, we are going to do our very best in the hope we raise our target of £5000 for all of the heroes who need help. We are also appearing in our Local Newspaper which we will no doubt be bantered about constantly, but please 'dig deep.'

Our route will start at Lands End and we will go through Cornwall, Herefordshire, Cheshire and the Lake District to Carlisle, where we will go along the West Coast of Scotland to Fort William where we will head North East to our finishing point at John O' Groats.

The reason we are doing it for 'Help for Heroes' is because of a documentary called 'Wounded' which showed the stories of two Soldiers who had been severely injured in Afghanistan. It demonstrated their tremendous bravery and courage to achieve their individual goals. Most Soldiers injured in Afghanistan are of similar ages to ourselves and we wanted to raise money to give other wounded Soldiers the opportunity of living relatively 'normal' lives again after their rehabilitation. This is all done with the support of the Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham, which receive donations from 'Help for Heroes.'

"It’s about the blokes, our men and women of the Armed Forces. It’s about Derek, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it’s about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. It’s about Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife. It’s about Ben, it’s about Steven and Andy and Mark, it’s about them all. They are just blokes but they are our blokes; they are our heroes. We want to help our heroes."
