In March of 2007,we all lost a quite remarkable person.That person was my mum,Janet Schofield. She had fought against the onset of Neurofibromatosis Type 2(NF2) for over 34 years and had undergone numerous major operations to remove,and shrink, tumours on both her spinal cord and Brain. Those of you who knew her will know that she was probably one of the strongest,kindest and most selfless people that you are ever likely to meet. It became apparent that NF2 was a hereditory condition and, after tests, my only sister Joanne, was diagnosed with this disease.She has already undergone numerous operations to treat and remove,tumours and it was during the last one that I decided that I wanted to do something to help the fantastic organisation that supports the families of sufferers. Thats when this idea of an End-to-End bike ride came to mind. The route will be approximately 900 miles and will take 8 days at an average of around 112 miles each day.It will be an unsupported ride which means I will be carrying everything I need for the entire trip- including Tent, sleeping bags,clothes, tools, spare tyres, innertubes, toothbrush and beer vouchers. Please help if you can,I know we all get bombarded with these type of requests but I can assure you I`ll only be doing this once so if you can give up just one beer and donate the two quid then please do!!
