Thank you for visiting our fundraising page in memory of our brave son, Leo.

During a routine 20 week scan it was discovered that one of our twins had a possible problem with his heart. A further more detailed scan revealed that he had Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, a congential heart defect that requires a series of operations in order for the child to survive.

We opted for the surgery as we were determined we would do everything we could to give our little boy a chance. During this time we did a lot of research on the condition and how it would affect Leo and everyone in our family. This was when we came across Little Hearts Matter. They are a wonderful charity who are a great support to families who are given the shock diagnosis that their child has a single ventrical heart condition, meaning only half of their heart is functioning as it should. 

Sadly it wasn't meant to be for our little boy, further scans showed that he had other problems with his heart meaning the right side of his heart would not be strong enough to do the job the surgery would require it to do. We had to make the devastating decision to let him go peacefully. He was only expected to live for a week or so maximum.

Leo and his twin sister Eve were delivered on 2nd June 2009 at 32 weeks after my wife went into labour early. We knew that Leo wouldn't be able to stay with us for long even if they were born at full term but their early arrival meant that he was only able to stay in this world for 6 precious hours. Thanks to the wonderful advice we were given by the amazing people involved with Little Hearts Matter we were able to make the most of this time with him and build some memories that will last for a lifetime.

Leo will never be forgotten by his mummy, daddy, big sister Kara and twin sister Eve. Your money will go towards supporting other families in a similar position, a great tribute to our brave little boy and the time we were able to spend with him.
