Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page - this is part of a big family effort to raise funds for Ruairidh & Cameron's School They attend Colnbrook School in Hertfordshire, England, which teaches primary aged children with special educational needs. The school is a fabulous environment for them to learn - they are both autistic and can find the world very different to you and me. The school wants to build a fab new playground but they need £150K to do it and everyone is doing stuff to help them reach that target.
Big sis Carol managed to raise a whole heap of money in June by running just 5K - little sisters & little brother threw themselves from 160ft in the air on a bungee - so I thought anything they can do I can do better!! Can't have the rest of the family beat me. So ......................
On Sunday October 11, 2009, I will run the Chicago Marathon. It's been three years since I last ran the marathon distance (42 km / 26.2 miles), so I'm looking forward to the challenge again. My training is going well - a few bumps and bruises along the way - but I'm ready to rock! I feel lucky to be able to do this for the boys, and I hope you will be able to make a donation to help me reach my target.
STOP PRESS (from big sis Carol ): Linda has just completed the marathon in 4hrs 22mins (unofficial) - fantastic time and we are so pround of her - if you can donate please do it would mean so much to the boys' school.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the School and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
(Donations from all my friends in Canada & the US will be converted to sterling but every cent, loonie & toonie counts!)
So please dig deep and donate now!! I've got to do better than my sisters!
