We help children born without eyes to reach their potential and enjoy life

Story

I See What I Feel & Hear.....

April 23rd 2011, St Georges Day, my liitle grandson Calum Jensen Boyle arrived into the world. Our celebrations were abruptly halted when they delivered the shocking news that our darling little boy had been born without his eyes.

My daughter shook uncontrollably & inconsolably for 10 long minutes, then grasped my hand and spoke clearly and gravely "Mummy, we don't know now what it is, but he has been given to us for a reason". My son-in-law, whose tears of joy at the birth of his first born son had been replaced by tears of fear and anguish, stood up strong... He held his baby boy tightly and spoke in a soft whisper to him...

"Don't worry my beautiful son.... I will be your eyes forever"

Calum was diagnosed with Anopthalmia, which literally means 'without eyes'. It is a rare condition that affects just 1 in 100,000 children. Through him we have become parts of the MACS family (Micro & Anopthalmic Childrens Society). I have volunteered to run the 2012 Virgin London Marathon to raise funds for this little known charity.

I am also the proprietor of The Kings Oak Hotel in High Beach, in the heart of Epping Forest near Loughton in Essex. The Kings Oak Hotel management and staff are supporting MACS for the next year through various events to raise the much needed funds. If you don't feel inclined to donate to my marathon cause, maybe I can persuade you to join us at the Kings Oak for one of our fund raising events. A link to the Kings Oak Hotel website is below.
