We safe and decent homes for families to build new lives, hopes and opportunities

Story

Thank you for visiting my page!

On 13 August 2007, I am flying to Cluj, Romania, with some of my future colleagues at Addleshaw Goddard. We are participating in a house-building project managed by Habitat for Humanity, a charity whose aim it is to help eliminate poverty and homelessness throughout the world.

Yes, house-building. Literally. Mixing concrete, laying blocks, making window frames, digging foundations, plastering etc.  I know hard manual labour is probably not something with which most of you associate me, but I fully intend to  rise to the challenge! It's going to be hard in the 40 degree heat, but I will try not to pass out.

My travel and accommodation costs for the project are being paid for by my firm but I need to raise funds to contribute towards a donation to the charity. I would therefore be extremely grateful for any donation you feel you are able to make, however small, which will go straight to investment in future house-building initiatives.

You can find out more about the charity and specifically the work carried out in Romania at www.habitatforhumanity.org.uk. or by asking me!

Many thanks for your support.

Lisa

About the charity

We believe decent homes are the heartbeat of strong communities and so we also fight for land rights for women, upgrade urban slums and informal settlements, improve access to water and sanitation, and help communities become more resilient in the face of natural disasters.
