Scottish Autism supports families in Scotland affected by autism by providing advice, support and specialist services. These include an autism specific school, residential care for adults, vocational projects and a short-stay unit designed to give families a break.
Hi there, thanks for visiting our fundraising page.
We will be attempting a gruelling 5 day hike up the Atlas Mountains in Morocco to the peak of Mount Toubkal (the highest mountain in North Africa) in order to raise money for the Scottish Society for Autism.
We will be trekking our way up to the 4165m high summit through some remote terrain where we will encounter wild goats, Berber villagers, ancient shrines, all whilst sleeping out underneath the stars – No Brokeback Mountain jokes please.
We hope to come back with some good stories, great pictures but most importantly having raised some money for this brilliant charity which is close to our hearts.
For those who don't know Scott, his eldest son Isaac is 6 years old and is Autistic, his social interaction, speech and general comprehension of the world around him is impaired, which is typical for children with this disorder.
Autism is the fastest growing child developmental disorder in the world and over 500,000 families across Britain are affected, however there is very little support for both those effected and their families.
We are raising money for the SSA to try to increase awareness and support for the disorder so we can provide carer support groups, special needs training for mainstream schools and nurseries and generally allowing those who have Autism to live a normal life as possible.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Scottish Society for Autism gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor us now, all donations welcome no matter how much.
