All children need to play, but for disabled children it is essential to help them reach their full potential. Challengers provides numerous play schemes for disabled children from across the South East. However, there are hundreds of children missing out every day and your gift can help them play.

Story

'Play and leisure opportunities for disabled children and young people are few and far between. This means that thousands and thousands of disabled children across the UK miss out of this vital part of their development due to the lack of suitable facilities and support networks.
Disability Challengers is passionate about delivering play opportunities to any disabled children, regardless of the profoundness of their impairment. Through our full-time centres in Guildford and Farnham and our satellite schemes across the county, we deliver some 16,000 child places every year to over 1,100 children. And, of course, by delivering these child spaces, we are also giving a much-needed short-break to their family.

Sadly, this is still not enough as we estimate that for every disabled child that uses our services, three more are desperately waiting to access our play and leisure schemes. With our annual turn-over now reaching £1million we rely on the kindness and generosity of individuals, community groups, business and charitable trusts and grant making foundations to enable us to continue running these vital services.' (Challengers official statement)

The team are all involved in the work of challengers, either in the summer holidays when back from uni, or over weekends with the schemes that run all year round.  Seeing the need for expansion we decided to embark on an adventure in order to raise both awareness of the work Challengers does, and money to help expansion and inclusion of more disabled children and young adults.
