We are three girls from Surrey who are embarking on something of an adventure - a charity rally to Mongolia. This will entail a journey of approximately 10,000 miles through some very difficult territory in a car which much have an engine capacity of no more than one litre. We are undertaking this enormous challenge to raise funds for Disability Challengers, a Surrey based charity which provides play and youth schemes as well as other opportunities for disabled children and young people.

The three of us have worked at our local Disability Challengers playscheme for over three years and have seen for ourselves the hugely important work that this charity does. Play and leisure opportunities are vital for all children and young people to help develop important social and communication skills plus a host of other things, but sadly thousands of disabled children and young people are excluded from such opportunities because of the level of care they require. This limits development and acheivement of potential, and also places huge strains on families. Disability Challengers welcomes youngsters however profound their disability and we all have great fun! Unfortunately, there is insufficient funding to meet needs. The charity estimates that for every disabiled child and young person who uses its services, three more are desperately waiting to access their play and leisure schemes.

We want to raise as much money as possible to support the excellent work of Disability Chellengers and have decided on something that will really challenge us - The Mongol Rally! The journey will take us through about 13 countries depending on the route we finally decide, and deserts, mountains and wilderness. On average just over half the teams make the finish line, and even though we can't even change a tyre, we are determined to make it!!

Thank you for your support.

About the charity

All children need to play, but for disabled children it is essential to help them reach their full potential. Challengers provides numerous play schemes for disabled children from across the South East. However, there are hundreds of children missing out every day and your gift can help them play.
