*********************************************
UPDATE!!!!

Hurrah!
I completed the 25th Anniversary Great North Run this weekend in a time of 2h18mins :-)

I didn't take the medal off for most of Sunday and had a grin from ear to ear!!!!

It was a really great day, very very hot and very very hilly (always up hill - or so it appeared!) but really great fun. Thank you to everyone who donated to Macmillan Cancer Relief in total I raised over £700 but I am still receiving donations which will boost this total even further. Thank you all very much Liz ********************************************* Hello and Welcome to our website! Well as you know Nikki and Liz have signed up for our first half marathon's, plus along the way a 10km - its going to be a challenge!!!! What and when are we running? 3rd July 2005 - The British 10km - London 18th September 2005 - The BUPA GREAT NORTH RUN (Yes thats 13.1 miles!!) We are going to be training and running together, that way we can make sure we both stick to the training schedules - even when its cold and raining!!!! We will of course keep this website upto date, with pictures and news, to let you know how its going so keep visting!! Why have we signed up for this challenge? We are running to raise as much money as we can for Macmillan cancer relief the UK charity which helps people living with cancer. Our target is £400, but our greatest wish would be to reach £800 that's enough to fund a Macmillan nurse for a week. Everyday 739 people in the UK are told they have cancer. More than 1 million people in the UK today have had a cancer diagnosis and more than 1 in 3 will be diagnosed at some time in their life. Right from the beginning the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff of Macmillan provide the expert care, practical and emotional support that makes a real difference for people living with cancer. The money we raise will fund specialist Macmillan nurses and doctors, build vital treatment centres and give grants to help those who need equipment - just think how much a comfortable bed or portable heater could mean to someone with cancer. You never know we may be able to fund a nurse for a week. For more information on this wonderful charity visit their website at http://www.macmillan.org.uk/ Hopefully reading about the work the Macmillan staff do will have inspired you to sponsor us. Plus the thought that we will have to run 13.1 miles, you know how unfit we are! Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. So hopefully you should have no trouble! Ps. We will consider running with dyed hair, dressed up.....if the sponsorship totals are high enough!!!! -------------------------------------------------- **NEWS** Welcome to the new NEWS section where we aim to keep you up to date with our fundraising (and training!) - A YORKSHIRE QUIZ (31st May 2005) The Yorkshire quiz has now been launched in Malton and surrounding areas. As the title suggests all the 55 questions have a Yorkshire theme, covering everything from Yorkshire places to Yorkshire residents to Yorkshire history! At just £1 the quiz sheets are great value, especially when you can WIN 4 TICKETS TO LIGHTWATER VALLEY! Quiz sheets are avaliable from: Malton Tourist Information Centre, 58 Market Place Pickering Tourist Information Centre, The Ropery Instructions on how to complete the quiz and return your entry are outlined at the top of each sheet. So all that remains is to wish everyone who enters GOOD LUCK! Ps. Also watch out for articles in the Gazette and Herald and Mercury!! - A YORKSHIRE QUIZ (Update!!) The Yorkshire quiz has now closed, thank you to everyone who entered and to the staff at Malton and Pickering Tourist Information centres for their help. In total the quiz raised £120. I hope everyone enjoyed tackling the questions! - YORKSHIRE CAR BOOTS (31st May 2005) A great big thank you to everyone who donated 'stuff' for us to sell at two car boot sales which Liz ran over the bank holiday weekend. In total we raised a huge £330 - wow!!! A very very big thank you to everyone who supported us at the Murton and Pickering car boots. - BEDFORDSHIRE CAR BOOTS (8th June 2005) We are hoping to repeat our Yorkshire car boot success in Bedfordshire, now that I am back at uni. We have only one problem - nothing to sell!! So posters have been put up around the campus asking staff and students to donate items for us to include on our stall. Please see the posters spread around the campus for more details! - BEDFORDSHIRE CAR BOOTS (Update!!) A great big thank you to everyone who donated items for us to sell at the Stondon car boot yesterday (21st August). In total we raised £103. A very big thank you to everyone who supported our stall and to the staff at Stondon. - THE BRITISH 10KM LONDON (3rd July 2005) HURRAH We finished our first race!!!! Running time: 1 hour Wow what a scenic route, we passed Downing Street, Big Ben, The London Eye, Horse Guards, Trafalgar Square.....Of course they were all a blur we were running so fast ?!?!?! Well that's one race down and with only 76 days to the next theres no time to rest its training, training, training! -------------------------------------------------- Thankyou for visiting our website and giving us your support.
