Story
Team Isle of Wight did it! It was really tough, the hills are a killer.
We left Yarmouth at 10.30am heading toward Cowes. We had planned to stop at Ventnor for lunch, but ended up stopping at Wootton Bridge because it had taken us a lot longer than expected.
We were about 8 miles when we had a puncture, when we set off again we ended up taking a slight detour and only made it about another 5 miles before the second puncture, after that there were no more incidents.
There were many times when we thought we would not make it. Around Shanklin we got worried about how long it had taken us to get there and would we be able to make it back to Yarmouth before night fall, we decided to stop a Ventnor to assess the situation. Heading into Ventnor was very steep and thoughts of why we were doing this was keeping us going. When we reached Ventnor we realised that there was about 28 miles left and when after Blackgang there was some flat! We topped up our drink bottles and headed on.
We were all so pleased to reach Yarmouth after 5 hours 33 minutes of cycling the 68.7 miles. It was however worth it because we have raised £668.20 so far.
