Rob, Stu and Tim would like to welcome you to one of Lock Stock and One Smoking Tuk Tuk's JustGiving pages. The other ones can be found at www.justgiving.com/onesmokingtuk for Frank Water and www.justgiving.com/smokingtuktuk for Mercy Corps.
As you found this page, we guess you know what we're doing and why we're doing it. If not, heres a quick summary......(or click here for our website)
We have signed up for the Rickshaw Run 2010 Spring Edition, which involves driving a Tuk Tuk 3000km from Cochin, in the South West of India to Gangtok in the Himalayas, in only 2 weeks!
One of the conditions of entry is that we raise at least £1000 for 2 charities that work very hard throughout India. Mercy Corps and Frank Water. This page is dedicated to Dogs For The Disabled. Here's a little about what they can do with the money you give them. (Click Read More)
Dogs for the Disabled is a pioneering charity that trains dogs to carry out a range of practical tasks to assist children and adults with disabilities to help them achieve greater independence. The charity also provides a programme to support families with a child with autism. Since 1988 the charity has trained over 400 partnerships.
An assistance dog acts as a great ice-breaker enabling our clients to break out of the social isolation that is often experienced through disability. Every dog is trained to help with everyday tasks such as opening doors or retrieving dropped items that may have rolled out of reach such as car keys, a mobile phone or an inhaler.
Many of our partnerships now feel confident enough to take on new activities and become active members of their community. For one adult with disabilities it may simply mean being able to do a weekly shop, for another the ability to return to work or to allow a mother with disabilities to look after her children.
For families with a child with autism, living life with an assistance dog can mean that for the first time the family as a whole can enjoy a trip to a restaurant or shop, and for some, their first holiday together.
