Story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

Between 13th and 28th September we're going to attempt to cycle 800 miles from London to Munich hoping to raise awareness of the benefits of cycling. Here are some stats to highlight the environmental benefits of getting on your bike.

London to Munich  By Car = 472 kg of CO2 emitted

                                  By 4x4 = 628 kg of CO2 emitted

                                  By Plane = 388 kg of CO2 emitted

                                 By Train = 180 kg of CO2 emitted

                                 By Bike = just 11 kg of CO2 emitted

By travelling by bike you emit 43 times less CO2 than by driving a car!

And the benefits don't stop there;

According to research, cycling at least 20 miles per week reduces the risk of coronary heart disease to less than half that for non-cyclists. Cycling at a gentle 12 mph on a flat road uses 450 kcal per hour. It also makes you feel younger and reduces stress. It is also claimed that cycling raises the speed of your metabolism for hours afterwards, so your body continues to burn calories even after exercise.

Our Charity Sustrans invests in the UK national cycle network with the aim to enable cycling to be used as a viable alternative to cars.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Sustrans gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor us now!
