Hi there and thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

Well I did it!  I took part in the 10k run at the Dubai Marathon on 18th of January 2008  in memory of my Mum Aileen Beaton who lost her battle to Breast Cancer on the 15th of May 2007.  

I ran the entire 10k from start to finish in an impressive time of 1hour and 2 mins and 27 seconds!  Go to www.dubaimarathon.org and view the results.  My bib number was 1514.  This is the first time I had ever done anything like this and can't believe the time that I completed it in.  Only two months ago when I started training I couldn't even run 1/2k without the need of an oxygen tank.

Thank you so much to those who have donated, without your support I don't think I would have made it to the end.  I do however think Mum was there on the day helping me along when it got really hot at one point.  

I intend to continue trying to raise funds for Cancer research through participating in fun runs and other charity events whenever possible.  Hopefully this small gesture will help prevent other families losing those who they love and cherish so much to this terrible disease like we did. Don't worry though  I won't be looking for sponsorship for a long time.  Be warned though if I ever decide to run a full 42k marathon I'll be expecting hands in pockets again!
