Story
Hey gang!
So, I'm running the marathon in four months and I really need your help. I need to raise £1500 by April but in reality I would love for that total to be much nearer £2000.
I have been given an aim, to beat just under 4 hours, by my super speedy father which he set in 2000. Of course to cite him, I am "at least 20 years younger", so I'm training with a goal, folks.
There is a reason behind all this blood, sweat and charitable giving though and I'd love to fill you in on just who this money will be helping when you sponsor me to run those meagre 26 miles.
Sense is a UK wide charity that helps people of all ages who are deafblind. Sense not only helps children who are born deafblind to communicate with their parents and wider family, but also helps adults, once used to being independent, to regain some sort of self-reliance.
It could happen to you... Deafblindness is becoming more and more prevalent. As the eyesight and hearing of older people deteriorates, it can feel as if they are becoming estranged from the outside world. Imagine seeing everything as a Monet, up close, whilst your ears are ringing from a particularly heavy (and loud!) night out. Communication is the key to social wellbeing, and for my part, as I'm sure many of you will attest, being listened-to, or just getting your point across, is essential for everyday happiness.
So do something good with your money and help those people out there who can really benefit from what Sense has to give. Or, if that doesn't float your boat, then sponsor an arts student to do something other than read intellectual books all day.
Endless thanks,
Lottie
