Story
This year friends and family will walk race for life with my daughter.
A huge thank you to Barbara McTavish, Bev Niblock, Cheryl Formby and Jennifer Crilly who will be walking with her. This is Ailsa's Story xx
My 4 year old little girl will be walking 5k on the 21st June @ 11am.
In 2011 Ailsa was born with a rare birth defect that so far counts towards 18 operations. At 3 months old on a routine scan they had seen what appeared to be a tumour, after waiting 18 days for all results to be in her Dad and I were sat down to be told our little baby girl would start chemotherapy that weekend. Instead of being able to make loving memories of our first born child, we were faced with watching her have to go through this gruelling treatment for 6 months.
Ailsa had a neuroblastoma (a childhood cancer) in her right adrenal gland which was sucessfully removed 29th December 2011, she was lucky, other children on the onclology ward sadly were not and lost their battle with cancer.
For Ailsa, Race For Life is a big thing to do. Doctors had said when she was first born that she might not walk or sit up unaided due to her birth defect. She does both and she does it well!! So please sponsor her to help others who are fighting cancer and for those who have won their battles, to help all the other children on the Oncology ward who she was with and who continue on their journey.
No parent should ever have to see their child go through this. No family member or friend should ever have to watch someone they love and care about be put through this.
Please sponsor Ailsa to kick cancers butt.
Lastly well done to my little Ailsa, friends and family.
