Story
Dear family, friends and colleagues,
I have been inspired to enter my first half-marathon by my late grandfather, Chilton Slater, who passed away in November last year after suffering from cancer and vascular dementia.
The last time I saw my grandad was on the day of the 2007 Great North Run and we watched it together on TV while sitting in the lounge of his care home in Newcastle, hence my motivation to enter this event.
I'm running for the North of England Children's Cancer Research Fund as my family agree that my grandad would have liked to help support this charity in his memory.
My boyfriend Colin, who I have been training with 3 or 4 times a week, will be running with me on the day - his first half-marathon too - and after having recently reached the 10 mile mark we're now really looking forward to the challenge!
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page and for all your support.
Louise
