Story

Hello everyone.

I can't believe I've actually reached the stage of putting together one of these pages. Yep, I'm really doing it. Land's End to John O'Groats by bicycle in three weeks, starting 25th July, with my friend Cleo. I'm beginning to get scared. What am I thinking of??! What on earth makes me think I'm going to be able to do this? Me, who tends to burst into tears and stamp my foot whenever I'm taken out of my comfort zone. I can hear it already: "I CAN'T! I hate hills! Whose stupid idea was this anyway? I want to go home!" Well, it's too late. I can't get out of it now.

So, why am I doing it? Here goes:

It was my New Year's Resolution last year when I was in a bit of a rut

I can raise some money for a worthwhile charity

I get lovely long holidays so might as well use them for something meaningful!

I'm a bit fat

I'm rather unfit

I quite like cycling

I love Britain

I fancied a challenge

I'm not sure any of those are quite good enough reasons to put myself through this, but I'm committed now, aren't I?! So I, and Sustrans, would be really grateful if you felt able to sponsor me. I have absolutely no idea whether £2000 is a remotely realistic amount but they wanted me to put something... let's see, shall we?! It's fitting since the trip will be nearly 1000 miles (yep, really...!), so that's £2 per mile-ish.

(PS if you don't fancy registering for justgiving, just e-mail me and I can put you on the paper sponsor form!)

Many, many thanks.

love Louise xx
