Story
Dear Friends & Colleagues,
Rob, Tom, Les & Matt would like to ask you to spare a couple of minutes to read our sponsorship request below. We hope you will agree to make a donation to help us reach our target of HKD 70,000 (approx GBP 5,400)
At 11am on Friday Nov 20th we will set out on a 100km hike across the New Territories in Hong Kong. The journey will start in Sai Kung in the north east before winding westward crossing four National Parks along the length of the longest marked trail in Kong Kong.
The event now known as "Oxfam Trailwalker", formerly called "Trailwalker", was originally an endurance training exercise for soldiers. In 1986, Oxfam Hong Kong was invited to co-organise the event and in the same year the event was open to the public. Along with the retreat of Gurkhas in 1997, Oxfam Hong Kong took over the event. Through the years, Oxfam Trailwalker has become one of the largest fundrasing sports events in Hong Kong.
Since 1986, more than 62,000 participants have raised over HK$290 million to support Oxfam's various poverty alleviation and emergency relief projects in Africa and Asia, including Hong Kong and mainland China..
Oxfam Trailwalker is a challenging team event. Our team will be looking to complete the 100km route in under 24hrs passing through a number of check points together in order to record a group finishing time.
Please see the links below which provide further detail on the event and specific examples of how your donations will help fund Oxfam's various poverty alleviation and emergency relief projects in Africa and Asia, including Hong Kong and mainland China.
