Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Rubinstein Taybi is a genetic disorder that my daughter Maddie was diagnosed with just prior to her first birthday. Seeking as much knowledge as possible we found out about a support group dedicated to families who have a child with this condition. This group has gone from strength to strength in the last 22 years. Regular get togethers are held across the country. There is currently ongoing  research with Birmingham University and families within the support group , which provides valuable insight into the difficulties families encounter day to day. The support group are valued as a source of knowledge and a point of contact for the medical profession. We are a self funding charity that are there for the children and the families of those children. Having completed the London marathon in 1999 (raising £1800 for the group) I have come out of retirement to complete the New York marathon. this time with the help of my young & fit 18 year old son Josh.

I hope that you can support us and donate whatever you can to this very special & supportive group of people, all of whom are family members of affected families, who give of their time willingly and voluntarily for the benefit of the cause.

Many, many thanks from Mick & Josh.

About the charity

We are a small national charity supporting families affected by RTS, a rare chromosome disorder, the main features of which are a learning disability and a high incidence of various physical and behavioural problems. We are entirely dependent on donations and all funds directly benefit families.
