Inspired by a very special girl, Maia, and the care she received since starting at St Roses School we have decided to do something that can make a real difference. Maia was born very ill in August 2004 with a condition called Incognentia Pigmenti coupled with sever epilipsy. Sadly we lost Maia in November 2008 and the family and friends are devastated, however we will keep going in Maia's memory. Hopefully this lovely 4 year old little girl will still help us make something really special happen for all her friends at this fantastic school at which she had so many happy times. What made a real difference to Maia and the rest of her friends at St Roses School was using the Hydrotherapy Pool which allows freedom of movement for the children that they do not have in their day to day lives. Unfortunatly the currently have to travel a 60mile round trip involving ardous journeys for all involved just to get 30minutes in the pool. St Roses School are running The Smile Appeal for the development of their own Hydrotherapy Pool, Early Years Centre and Sensory Garden - All monies raised by the Maia's Million Metres Team will go directly to The Smile Appeal.
PLEASE also lend your support to Chris Comens of Cheltenham. One Million Inches Swimathon (15.78miles)
Chris Comens will be swimming a total of One Million Inches (15.78miles) the same week that the cyclists are on their adventure to raise additional funds towards the St Roses School SMILE APPEAL.
To get some sort of perspective that is approximately 907 lengths of the Pool. This is a massive distance and effort from Chris so I hope you will all give him as much support as you are giving.
