We work with others to overcome poverty and suffering.

Story

We are doing it again this year! Only this time it's a little further for a little longer!

TRAILWALKER 2008 JULY 19 - 20 2008

Four people, one goal, 100 kilometres, 30 hours following the South Downs Way.

In aid of Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust, organisations that share a purpose – to end poverty and to help poor people to improve their lives.

For those of you who sponsored us last year for our successful RBS Caledonian Challenge we thank you and we would really appreciate your support again this year for our Trailwalker 2008 challenge. As we are going that little bit further this year we are all hoping that you too will be able to do the same and help us make this year an even bigger success than last.

If you didn't sponsor us last year we would like to tell you a little bit about us and what we are doing in 2008.
We are a team of work colleagues based throughout the country all working for Vodafone. We came together for the first time last year to take on the RBS Caledonian Challenge and raise some money for good causes. We are all very proud to say that we completed the required 54 miles in 23:06:09 hrs crossing the finish line as a team raising £2000 for the good causes. We all really enjoyed this unique experience and team spirit and so decided that next time we would try something a little further and longer.

We are all really privileged to be supported by Vodafone with some help towards the costs of the event but mostly with the time to be able to take part. We will now be starting on a series of long distance training walks over the coming months building up both the mileage and the challenge each time. It is our intention to keep this page updated with our progress and to share with you some of the ups and downs we have along the way. Please come back regularly to visit us to see how we are doing with both the fundraising and the training. If you have any tips or advice then please mail anyone of us and we will mention it on this page.

We would also like to especially mention Jill Mclean who for the second year running has agreed to be our support team leader. Without a great support team there could be no walking team and the work that they have to do is probably the most important of all to a team completing a successful challenge. Getting up early, staying awake for hours on end, driving around the countryside, cooking and caring for four walk weary team members is an unenviable task.

Please take some time and visit the Trailwalker web site to see exactly what we have let ourselves in for and to find out more about the great causes your donation will be supporting
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page and please dig deep and sponsor us online, this way we can easier keep tabs on the money we are raising .

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Oxfam will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor us now!

Many thanks for your support.
