Buy a brick for Mama Laadi's foster home
Mama Laadi is one of Ghana' s most incredible women. She has dedicated her entire life for caring for vulnerable children in her local region. She was born to poverty and ended up living a hand to mouth existance on the streets of Bolgatanga, after escaping from a nunnery that her parents sent her to for refusing to get married. In Bolgatanga Mama Laadi begged on the streets so that she could continue her education and tirelessly worked to find foster families for children who were also living on the streets.
A nurse found Mama Laadi in Bolgatanga and paid for her to train as a community nurse. When AfriKids met her she was living in a 12ft square room, working full time and being a mother to 12 children. AfriKids built Mama Laadi and a family a home, which has developed into an award winning residential care facility for children and transformed the lives of many once desperate children.
Mama Laadi's family is ever expanding and she is committed to helping as many children as she can sustainably. In the next year AfriKids will extend Mama Laadi's home so that all her children can live comfortably as they grow up and that the extra children who live with the family can be formally enrolled.
The total cost of the extension is £25,000 but any donation will be hugely appreciated. You can make a tangible contribution to Mama Laadi's foster home by purchasing some bricks for the construction. Each brick costs £2!!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Afrikids will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
